4Cs - CUT
The cut is the most decisive factor in a gemstone’s beauty. It is the only man-made component. The cut is the art and craft of a gem cutter in making the stone sparkle.
The cut is defined by symmetry, proportions, and polish.
WHY IS THE CUT THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR?
Two diamonds may be identical in color, clarity, and carat weight, but in the end, it is the cut that determines whether one is superior to the other. The cut is the only component created by human hands. It is the cut that gives the diamond its sparkling charm. Ultimately, the cut defines whether and how a diamond sparkles. That’s why we at GISELLE place the utmost importance on a diamond’s cut. We prioritize brilliance over carat weight and the certificate.
We refuse to compromise and exceed industry standards, which is why our diamonds stand out from those of other jewelers.
Three factors are crucial to a diamond's cut:
PROPORTION
The relationship between the size and angles of the gemstone and other parts of the gemstone.
SYMMETRY
How precisely the various facets of a diamond are aligned and intersect.
POLISH
The details and placement of the facet shapes, as well as the diamond's external finish.

WHY IS THE DIAMOND CUT SO IMPORTANT?
Simply put, the cut is crucial to the quality of a diamond’s sparkle. In my opinion, it’s the most important factor. A poorly cut diamond looks dull, even if it has high color and clarity grades.
GISELLE diamonds sparkle more! Almost all cutting operations are GIA- or Carat-oriented in order to get the maximum price out of the rough diamond.
I work with a cutting shop that focuses on cut (sparkle)! Their technique maximizes the stones' sparkle.
KARAT (CARAT)
The carat is a unit of weight for diamonds. It does not refer to size, as many people mistakenly believe.
COLOR
Among other things, color refers to a diamond's natural color.
FAQs
There's no right or wrong here. It depends on the person wearing it.
Most of our female customers are drawn to 1ct–2ct stones (visually). However, there are also women who specifically prefer larger stones starting at 3ct, or—on the other hand—women who want a tiny stone (about 0.05ct).
If you have no idea what your sweetheart wants, I recommend buying a diamond ranging from 0.50 ct to 1 ct. Even on petite women, this size won’t look too big, and if she does end up wanting a larger ring, you can always upgrade it later.
Diamonds are measured in carats. One carat is equal to 0.20 grams.
For a moderate budget, we recommend G/H and Si1 as good standard-quality options.
Color:
For white gold and platinum, be sure to choose G. For rose gold and yellow gold, an H is also perfectly acceptable, since the stone takes on a slight yellow tint from the alloy anyway.
Purity:
With Si1, you can expect an "eye-clean" diamond. The inclusions are mainly visible under a loupe.
However, we do not recommend going below Si1. The inclusions may be visible to the naked eye and significantly impair the stone's sparkle.
